"Lotus flowers and lotus leaves, I announce to you: (Grandmotherly heart is earnest. An accomplished gong'an. The pattern is already manifest.) / How can emerging from the water compare to when it has not yet emerged? (Washing a clod of dirt in the mud. It is fine to separate them; one must not homogenise them.) / North of the river, south of the river, you ask Old Wang; (Where is the host? Why ask Old Teacher Wang? You only wear out your own straw sandals.) / One fox-doubt resolved, another fox-doubt arises." (Buried together in a single pit. It is you who doubt. Inevitably the feeling of doubt has not ceased.
