Case: Great Master Yunmen said, 'When the light does not penetrate freely, there are two kinds of sickness: (Do you still feel your mouth is dry and your tongue shriveled?) / Not being clear anywhere, with an object appearing before you, is one. (Seeing ghosts in broad daylight—could your eyes be blurred?) / Penetrating the emptiness of all dharmas, yet vaguely as if something exists, is also the light not penetrating freely. (The chest is already blocked; how can one bear a constricted throat?) / Furthermore, the dharmakāya also has two kinds of sickness: (Misfortunes never come singly.) / Reaching the dharmakāya, yet because grasping at dharmas is not forgotten and views of self still remain, falling to the side of the dharmakāya is one. (Not only are there evil spirits, there are also family ghosts.) / Even if one penetrates through, letting it slip by will not do; (Nourishing an illness ruins the body.) / examining it closely, to see what breath is left is also a sickness.' (Before the physician leaves the door, the illness flares up again.)
