舉。雲門問乾峯。請師答話（空頭沒頂𩕳）峯云。到老僧也未（早箇答汝了也）門云。恁麼則某甲在遲也（讓則有餘）峯云。恁麼那恁麼那（切忌恁麼會）門云。將謂侯白。更有侯黑（好手手中無好手）。

Case: Yunmen asked Qianfeng, 'I ask the Master to answer my question.' (Empty-headed, having no crown.) Qianfeng said, 'Has it reached the old monk yet?' (He has already answered you!) Yunmen said, 'In that case, I am late.' (Yielding has surplus.) Qianfeng said, 'Is it so, is it so?' (Be sure not to understand it this way!) Yunmen said, 'I had thought of Hou Bai, but there is still Hou Hei!' (In the hands of an adept there is no adept.)
