曹山和尚。因僧問云。清稅孤貧。乞師賑濟。山云。稅闍梨稅應諾。山曰。青原白家酒。三盞喫了猶道。未沾唇。
A monk asked Upādhyāya Caoshan: "Qingshui is lonely and destitute; I beg the master to give relief." Caoshan said: "Ācārya Shui!" Shui responded: "Yes?" Caoshan said: "You have drunk three cups of the Bai family wine of Qingyuan, yet you still say that your lips have not been moistened!"
