僧問師。如何是雲門劍。師云祖　如何是玄中的。師云𡎺　如何是吹毛劍。師云。骼又云胔　如何是正法眼。師云普。三身中那身說法。師云要　如何是啐啄之機。師云響。殺父殺母。佛前懺悔。殺佛殺祖。甚處懺悔。師云露　如何是祖師西來意。師云師　靈樹一默處如何上碑。師云師　久雨不晴時如何。師云劄　鑿壁偷光時如何。師云恰承古有言了。即業障本來空。未了應須還宿債。未審二祖是了是未了。師云確。

A monk asked the master, "What is Yunmen's sword?"
The master said, "Ancestor."
"What is the mark within the abstruse?"
The master said, "Crush."
"What is the hair-severing sword?"
The master said, "Bone." He also said, "Carrion."
"What is the true Dharma eye?"
The master said, "Everywhere."
"Among the three bodies, which body expounds the Dharma?"
The master said, "Essential."
"What is the dynamic of pecking and tapping [from within and without]?"
The master said, "Resonance."
"If one kills one's father and kills one's mother, one repents before the Buddha. If one kills the Buddha and kills the Patriarchs, where does one repent?"
The master said, "Exposed."
"What is the meaning of the Ancestral Master coming from the West?"
The master said, "Master."
"How should Lingshu's single silence be inscribed upon a stele?"
The master said, "Master."
"How is it when it rains for a long time without clearing?"
The master said, "Zha."
"How is it when one bores a hole in the wall to steal light?"
The master said, "Just right."
"Inheriting the ancient saying: 'Once awakened, karmic obstacles are fundamentally empty; if not yet awakened, one must repay former debts.' I wonder, was the Second Patriarch awakened or not yet awakened?"
The master said, "Definite."
