"Penetrating the teaching and penetrating the mind, / Is like the sun abiding in empty space.
Only transmitting the Dharma of the sudden teaching, / Appearing in the world to demolish false doctrines.
The teaching is without sudden or gradual, / Delusion and awakening are slow or rapid.
If one studies the Dharma of the sudden teaching, / The foolish cannot fathom it.
Though explanations may have ten thousand kinds, / When joined to principle they all return to the One.
Within the dark house of kleśas, / One must constantly give birth to the sun of prajñā.
Falsehood arrives because of kleśas; / When correctness arrives, kleśas are removed.
Use neither falsehood nor correctness; / Purity reaches the unremaindered.
Bodhi is originally pure; / Giving rise to a mind is itself delusion.
The pure nature is within delusion; / Just be upright and remove the three hindrances.
If one cultivates the Way in the mundane world, / Nothing whatsoever is an obstacle.
Constantly seeing the faults within oneself, / One is immediately in accord with the Way.
Species of form have their own Way; / Leaving the Way to seek another Way,
Seeking the Way without seeing the Way, / In the end brings only self-reproach.
If you wish to seek the true Way, / Walking upright is itself the Way.
If you lack an upright mind yourself, / Walking in darkness you will not see the Way.
If one is a true cultivator of the Way, / One does not see the faults of the world.
If one sees the wrongs of the world, / One's own wrong is itself an error.
The other's wrong is not my sin; / My own wrong is my own sin.
Simply eliminate the wrong mind yourself; / Shatter kleśas to pieces.
If you wish to convert the foolish, / You must employ upāya.
Do not cause them to have doubts, / And that is bodhi manifesting.
The Dharma is originally in the mundane world; / In the world it transcends the world.
Do not leave the world / To seek transcendence outside.
Wrong views are in the mundane world; / Right views transcend the world.
Cast away both wrong and right, / And the nature of bodhi is vividly present.
This is solely the sudden teaching, / Also called the Mahāyāna.
Delusion lasts through accumulated kalpas; / Awakening occurs in a kṣaṇa."
