「經誦三千部，曹溪一句亡，
未明出世旨，寧歇累生狂。
羊鹿牛權設，初中後善揚，
誰知火宅內，元是法中王。」

"Three thousand recitations of the sūtra,
Lost in a single phrase at Caoxi.
Without understanding the purport of leaving the world,
How could the madness of accumulated lives be stilled?
Goat, deer, and bullock are provisionally established;
Excellently proclaimed in the beginning, middle, and end.
Who knew that inside the burning house
One was originally the king of dharmas?"
