5.27

經誦三千部　曹谿一句亡
未明出世旨　寧歇累生狂
羊鹿牛權設　初中後善揚
誰知火宅內　元是法中王

"Having recited the sutra three thousand times, / A single phrase at Caoxi made it all vanish.
Not understanding the intent of coming into the world, / How could the madness of repeated lives be stilled?
Goats, deer, and oxen were provisionally set forth, / Praised as good at the beginning, middle, and end.
Who knew that within the burning house / There was originally the King of the Dharma?"
