Answer: It is simply because of following the differentiation of wisdom. Raising one as primary, the rest all become secondary. Just as in Indra's net, raising a single opening as the chief, the multiple openings appear within it; since a single opening is like this, the appearance of all openings is also like this. Furthermore, it is like the bodhisattvas of the various directions all coming to bear witness, sharing the same names; all witnesses throughout the ten directions are also like this. Therefore they establish what is inexhaustible upon inexhaustible, without losing the sequential order of cause and effect, and the substance is without increase or decrease. Hence the sūtra says: 'When all sentient beings become Buddhas, the realm of Buddhas does not increase, and the realm of sentient beings does not decrease.' Ninth is the door of the skillful establishment through the turning of mind-only. This is explained in terms of the mind. All inexhaustible doors of meaning and all principles and phenomena are established by the nature of the tathāgatagarbha, the pure true mind, manifesting without impediment. Whether good or evil, ordinary or sage, they turn according to the mind. The World-Honoured One's body of the *Avataṃsaka* spoken of pervades the seven locations and nine assemblies, up to all pores and hair-paths in all dust motes of the empty space of the dharmadhātu of the ten directions, yet never departs from the place where the Way was first realized. The sūtra says: 'Although there are seven locations and nine assemblies, he does not depart from the bodhimaṇḍa of quiet extinction.' And it says: 'Without departing from the Bodhi tree, he ascends to Trāyastriṃśa Heaven.' This means that the myriad realms and myriad conditions do not leave the one true mind. As a verse in the Chapter on Dedication of Merit says: 'All such lords among men, / in accordance with whatever realms they have, / fully awaken to them within a single thought-moment, / yet also do not abandon the practices of bodhi.' Another verse says: 'All Buddha lands / are completely filled by the Buddha's sons; / sharing the same one mind in equality, / all that they do is not in vain. / At all the tips of hairs, / they simultaneously realize right awakening; / such great vows / are immeasurable and boundless. / Space and sentient beings, / the dharmadhātu and nirvāṇa, / the arising of Buddhas in the world: / these are the mental realms of the Buddha's wisdom.'
