答。依經論正義。即是前七現行識。為能熏因緣之因。熏生新熏種子。第八識。是前七現行識所熏生因緣之果。

Answer: According to the correct doctrine of the sūtras and treatises, it is the first seven actualized consciousnesses that serve as the cause of the cause-condition (hetupratyaya) that can perfume, perfuming to produce newly perfumed seeds. The eighth consciousness is the result of the cause-condition perfumed and produced by the first seven actualized consciousnesses.'
