問。若約見聞外境。則色不至眼。眼不至色。可言唯心。無相可得。只如飲噉之時。根境相入。若言無相。不可以心喫心。

Question: If one speaks in terms of seeing and hearing external objects, then form does not reach the eye, and the eye does not reach form; one may say it is consciousness-only (vijñaptimātra) and no characteristics can be obtained. But when drinking and eating, sense faculties and sense objects enter each other. If one says there are no characteristics, citta cannot eat citta.
