The Yandao suye jing says: 'The Buddha told the elder: "Wisdom has four matters. First, understanding the emptiness of the body: composed of the four great elements, when dispersed and destroyed, it fundamentally has no master or name. Second, that birth in the three realms is entirely made by citta; citta is like an illusion or transformation, supporting and establishing multiple forms. Third, fully knowing that the five skandhas fundamentally have no location; according with what they attach to, these emotions come to be. Fourth, understanding that the twelve links of dependent origination fundamentally have no root or origin; they appear through confrontation. These are the four." The Buddha thereupon spoke in verse: / Fully understanding that one's body is empty, / Composed of the four great elements; / Dispersed and eliminated, it has no location, / It came to be born from citta. / The five skandhas fundamentally have no root; / What they attach to becomes their name. / The twelve links have no origin; / Understanding this leads to great peace.'
