菩薩念佛三昧經云。心如金剛。善根穿徹一切法故。心如迦隣提衣。柔軟。善根。能作業故。心如大海。善根攝諸戒聚故。心如平石。善根住持一切事業故。心如山王。善根發生一切善法故。心如大地。善根負持眾生事業故。

The Bodhisattvabuddhānusmṛtisamādhisūtra says: 'Citta is like vajra, because its roots of good pierce through all dharmas. Citta is like kālindika cloth, soft and pliable, because its roots of good can perform activities. Citta is like the great ocean, because its roots of good gather all masses of precepts. Citta is like a flat stone, because its roots of good maintain all activities. Citta is like the king of mountains, because its roots of good produce all wholesome dharmas. Citta is like the great earth, because its roots of good bear and sustain the activities of sentient beings.'
