度一切諸佛境界經云。佛言。文殊師。利菩提者。無相無緣。云何無相。云何無緣。不得眼識是無相。不見色是無緣。不得耳識是無相。不聞聲是無緣。乃至意法亦如是。釋曰。無相則無能緣之心。無緣則無所緣之境。能所俱亡。真心自現。

The Du yiqie zhofo jingjie jing says: 'The Buddha said: Mañjuśrī, bodhi is without characteristics and without conditions. What is without characteristics? What is without conditions? Not apprehending eye-consciousness is without characteristics; not seeing form is without conditions. Not apprehending ear-consciousness is without characteristics; not hearing sound is without conditions. And so on, down to the mind and phenomena being also like this.' Explanation: 'Without characteristics' means there is no mind that conditions; 'without conditions' means there are no objects conditioned. Subject and object are both obliterated, and the true citta naturally appears.
