Answer: The *Samuccaya* says: 'In order to manifest the five kinds of self-phenomena: 1. the phenomenon of the self's bodily apparatus, which is subsumed by the internal and external form aggregate; 2. the phenomenon of the self's enjoyment, which is the sensation aggregate; 3. the phenomenon of the self's discourse, which is the conception aggregate; 4. the phenomenon of the self's active fabrication of all dharmas and non-dharmas, which is the formations aggregate; 5. the phenomenon of the self's own substance on which they depend, which is the consciousness aggregate. This has the meaning of the phenomenon of the mark of self upon which the bodily apparatus and so forth depend.' Worldly sentient beings mostly grasp and cling to the consciousness aggregate as the self, and grasp and cling to the remaining aggregates as belonging to the self.
