問：「夫如來法身，湛然清淨，一切眾生秖為客塵所蔽，不得現前。如今但息攀緣，定水澄淨，何須眾善，向外紛馳，反背真修，但成勞慮？」

Question: "Now, the Tathāgata's dharmakāya is serene and pure; it is only because sentient beings are covered by adventitious defilements that it does not manifest. Nowadays, if one only ceases object-clinging, the water of meditation will become still and pure; why is it necessary for myriad good deeds to dash about outwardly, going contrary to true cultivation and merely creating toil and worry?"
