「第七、正助兼修者，正即是主，助即是伴。因伴成主，無助即正終不圓；從主得伴，無正則助無由立。是以主伴相成，正助兼備，亦是止觀雙運，隱顯互興，內外更資，乘戒兼急。

"Seventh: regarding 'Concomitant cultivation of primary and auxiliary,' the primary is the host, and the auxiliary is the companion. The host is accomplished through the companion—without the auxiliary, the primary is ultimately incomplete; the companion is obtained from the host—without the primary, the auxiliary has no basis for being established. Therefore, host and companion mutually accomplish each other, and primary and auxiliary are both equipped; it is also the dual operation of cessation and contemplation, the mutual flourishing of the concealed and the revealed, mutual enhancement between inner and outer, and equal urgency for vehicle and precepts.
