When Reverend Fojian Qin transferred from Taiping to Zhihai, Commandery Governor Lord Zeng Yuanli asked him, "Who may succeed as abbot?" Fojian recommended Head Monk Bing. The Lord wished to meet him once. Fojian said, "Bing is unyielding and upright as a man, aloof from the world without desires or hobbies. Even if you invite him, I fear he will not comply; how could he be willing to come on his own?" The Lord insisted on inviting him. Bing said, "This is what is called an 'exhibitionist elder.'" In the end, he fled to Mount Sikong. The Lord turned and said to Fojian, "No one knows a son better than his father." He then ordered the various monasteries to firmly invite him, and Bing, having no choice, finally complied with the command. (Chan Shizhe Rilu)
