死心曰。節儉放下最為入道捷徑。多見學者。心憤憤口悱悱。孰不欲繼踵古人。及觀其放下節儉。萬中無一。恰似庶俗之家子弟不肯讀書要做官人。雖三尺孺子。知其必不能為也（廣錄）。

Sixin said: "Frugality and letting go are the most direct shortcuts to entering the Way. I often see students full of indignation in mind and eager to speak—who among them does not wish to follow in the footsteps of the ancients? Yet when observing their letting go and frugality, not one in ten thousand possesses them. It is just like the sons and younger brothers of common families who refuse to study and yet want to become officials. Even a child of three feet knows that they certainly cannot achieve it."
