3.33

草堂謂山堂曰。天下之事是非未明不得不慎。是非既明以理決之。惟道所在斷之勿疑。如此則姦佞不能惑。強辯不能移矣（清泉記聞）。

Caotang said to Shantang: "Regarding affairs under Heaven, before right and wrong are clear, one cannot but be cautious; once right and wrong are clear, decide them according to reason. Decide without hesitation wherever the Way lies. In this way, treacherous flatterers cannot confuse you, and powerful arguments cannot sway you." (Recorded Hearings of Qingquan)
