Zhuo'an said, "Shallow students of later times only value their ears and devalue their eyes, ultimately never able to fathom the mysteries. Therefore it is said: 'The mountain does not weary of height, within it are layered cliffs and accumulated azure; the sea does not weary of depth, within it are the four oceans and nine abysses.' If you wish to fathom the Great Way, the essential point lies in exhausting its heights and depths. Only then can you illuminate the dark and subtle and respond to transformations without end." (Letter to Elder Jin)
