或菴謂侍郎曾公逮曰。學道之要如衡石之定物。持其平而已。偏重可乎。推前近後。其偏一也。明此可學道矣（見曾公書）。

Huo'an said to Vice Minister Lord Zeng Dai, "The essential point of studying the Way is like a balance-weight determining the weight of things; it is simply to maintain its level balance. Can partial heaviness be acceptable? Pushing it forward or pulling it back, the partiality is the same. Understanding this, one can study the Way." (Seen in the letter to Lord Zeng)
