Sixin said to Chen Yingzhong: "If one wishes to seek the Great Way, one must first rectify one's mind. If there is the slightest anger, it cannot achieve its rectitude; if there is the slightest craving, it also cannot achieve its rectitude. Yet unless one is a sage or worthy responding to the world, how could one be without love and hate, joy and anger? One must simply not place them before oneself so as to harm one's rectitude—then it is achieved." (Extensive Record)
