評曰。他人因病而退惰。此老帶病精修。終成大器。豈徒然哉。禪人病中。當以是痛自勉勵。

Commentary: Others regress and become indolent due to illness, but this venerable elder cultivated with diligence while carrying illness, ultimately becoming a great vessel. How could this be in vain? Chan practitioners in the midst of illness should use this to keenly encourage themselves.
