The text of the statement: A single word serves as the standard for all under heaven, hitting the mark of compass and square; through ten thousand generations all know the honor of the teacher's Way, possessing order and discipline. By this we may compare the magnificence of the monastic grove's rites and music, and behold the multitude of dragons and elephants at the dharma feast. Chinese and Sanskrit share the same writing, rich as the fame of Tianlu Library; sūtras and vinaya complement one another, strict as the golden code and jade statutes. Possessing the decorum of orderly paces in the hall, it is no mere makeshift rite in the wilderness. Immediate to this function, detached from this function, his words escape the twofold mystery; emerging from the dynamic, entering into the dynamic, his principle fathoms all wonders. It is fitting to pair him with the Chan Patriarch to share the sacrifice; how could we not follow the day of mourning and prepare the feast? We humbly pray: May Śakra's banner of energetic victory subdue all Māras and heterodoxies; may the great shaded tree of Jibei cast its cool canopy across all of Jambudvīpa.
