The above ten texts in twelve fascicles. In the era of Emperor Wen, Tripiṭaka Dhyāna Master Dharmamitra (in the language of the Song: "Dharma-Excellence") of Jibin had joined eyebrows from birth. By nature he was profound and possessed great wisdom and insight. Virtuous deities constantly concealed their forms to protect him secretly. Whenever he went to a kingdom's border, the deities would certainly enter the king's dreams to inform him, and did the same when they knew he was departing. He vowed to take traveling and teaching as his aim; his disposition was pure and cultivated, unbound by fame or profit. When he first arrived in Dunhuang, he established a meditation hall in an open and quiet spot, planting a thousand plum trees and clearing a garden of a hundred mu. The meditating assembly was numerous, and those flocking to it were like clouds. In the beginning of the Yuanjia era he came to Jianye and stayed at Zhong Temple, later residing at Zhihuan. He translated dhyāna sūtras and incantations, and also transmitted and painted the image of the divine king Kapila, which remains a model to this day.
