The above five works comprise a total of twenty-seven fascicles. During the reign of Emperor Wen, the Tianzhu Tripiṭaka Master Sanghavarman (in the language of the Song, "Armor of the Saṅgha") arrived in Jianye in the tenth year of the Yuanjia reign era. He was skilled in the Vinayapiṭaka and had a clear understanding of the Samyukta-abhidharma-hṛdaya-śāstra. Liu Yikang, the Prince of Pengcheng, venerated his precepts and deportment, inviting him to be his master. His fame was esteemed at the Daouchang Monastery in the capital. Because Sanghavarman possessed an exquisite understanding of the Samyukta-abhidharma-hṛdaya-śāstra and recited it with flowing fluency, [even though] earlier Tripiṭaka masters had translated it before, they had not yet had the opportunity to copy it out. Thus, [Sanghavarman] was repeatedly requested to translate it again. Baoyun served as the interpreter, and Huiguan personally served as the scribe, finishing after one full year. Following this, he successively produced the Mātrikā and other texts.
