11.24

法師從雅。錢唐人。賜號法寶。始從海月學通止觀。乃自謂曰。言清行濁賢聖所訶。遂入南山天王院誦法華至五藏（言藏者。且以五千四十八為數）。

Dharma Master Congya was a native of Qiantang, granted the title Fabao. He first studied under Haiyue and thoroughly mastered Calming and Contemplation. He then said to himself, 'When words are pure but conduct is defiled, it is rebuked by the worthies and sages.' He thereupon entered Tianwang Hermitage on Southern Mountain and recited the Lotus Sūtra up to five tripiṭakas (speaking of tripiṭakas, five thousand and forty-eight is taken as the count).
