12.18

法師覺琮。受業會稽之圓智。依南湖。學成言歸。法智寄帖勉之曰。既學山家。必當異於常流。理事合修自他兼濟。如此是為智者之子孫也。

Dharma Master Juecong received instruction at Yuanzhi in Kuaiji. He relied on Nanhu, and having completed his studies, announced his return. Fazhi sent him a note of encouragement, saying: 'Having studied the Mountain School, you must certainly distinguish yourself from ordinary currents. Cultivate principle and practice together, and benefit both self and others. To be like this is to be a true descendant of the Wise One [Zhiyi].'
