法琳。晉原人。常誦觀經輒見一僧大身在前。北齊建武二年感疾。見寶樹下一佛二大士像坐蓮華上。琳大慰喜。夜半聞鍾聲。眾就視之。即席而化。

Falin was a native of Jinyuan. Whenever he recited the Contemplation Sūtra, he would see a monk with an enormous body standing before him. In the second year of the Jianwu reign era of the Northern Qi, he fell ill and saw the statues of a Buddha and two great beings seated upon lotus flowers beneath a jeweled tree. Lin was greatly comforted and delighted. At midnight, the sound of a bell was heard. The assembly went to look, and he had passed away right on his mat.
