27.30

智舜。入廬山踵遠公淨業。講觀經才終。即示病。見鸚鵡孔雀念佛念法皆微妙聲。告弟子曰。我今日往生矣。既而果遷化。時隋大業初。

Zhishun entered Mount Lu, following in the footsteps of Master Huiyuan's pure karma. Just after he finished lecturing on the Contemplation Sūtra, he manifested illness. He saw parrots and peacocks chanting the Buddha and chanting the Dharma, all with subtle and wondrous sounds. He said to his disciples, “Today I am going to be reborn [in the Pure Land].” Soon after, he indeed passed away. This was at the beginning of the Daye reign era of the Sui.
