27.50

神素。居蒲州講阿毘曇成實論。願早登安養。後病中令弟子讀觀經。靜坐而聽。既畢唱佛大士號。始終數番。至中夜安坐而化。

Shensu resided in Puzhou and lectured on the Abhidharma and the Tattvasiddhi-śāstra, wishing to ascend early to the Land of Peaceful Nurturance. Later, while ill, he instructed his disciples to read the Contemplation Sūtra, sitting quietly to listen. When it finished, he chanted the names of the Buddha and the Great Beings several times from beginning to end. At midnight, he sat peacefully and passed away.
