27.67

智欽。專習禪業。又禮一萬五千佛名一百遍。後於鄭州阿育王塔所燒一臂。願生淨土。弟子僧護夜半見庭前光照異常。因問。何人秉炬。凡三問。空中聲云。來迎欽禪師耳。護急推窓觀之。即見佛身光明幡華寶蓋騰空飛下。欽應時化去。

Zhiqin devoted himself exclusively to dhyāna practice. He also prostrated to the fifteen thousand Buddha-names one hundred times. Later, at the King Aśoka Stūpa in Zhengzhou, he burned one of his arms, vowing to be reborn in the Pure Land. At midnight, his disciple Senghu saw an extraordinary light shining in the courtyard. He therefore asked, "Who is holding a torch?" He asked three times in all. A voice from the sky said, "We have simply come to welcome Chan Master Qin." Hu hurried to push open the window and look, whereupon he saw the Buddha's body radiating brilliant light, with banners, flowers, and jeweled canopies soaring through the air and flying downward. Qin passed away on the spot.
