知禮。號法智。居南湖述妙宗鈔。釋天台觀經疏。大彰觀心觀佛之旨。曾於每歲二月望日。建念佛施戒會。動逾萬人。又撰融心解。明一心三觀。顯四淨土之義。後於歲旦建光明懺。至五日召大眾說法。驟稱佛號數百聲。奄然坐逝。

Zhili, styled Fazhi, resided at Nanhu and authored the *Subcommentary on the Wonderful Meaning* to explain the Tiantai *Commentary on the Contemplation Sūtra*, greatly illuminating the principle of contemplating the mind and contemplating the Buddha. Every year on the full moon of the second month, he would establish an assembly for Buddha-recitation and conferring precepts, which regularly attracted over ten thousand people. He also wrote the *Explanation of Integrating the Mind*, clarifying the three contemplations in one mind and revealing the meaning of the four pure lands. Later, on New Year's Day, he established the Repentance of Radiant Light. On the fifth day, he summoned the great assembly to preach the Dharma, suddenly chanted the Buddha's name several hundred times, and passed away peacefully while seated.
