李知遙。長安人。率眾為五會念佛（唐大歷中。法照師於衡州開五會念佛。今李知遙為五會。應是師法於照。五會者。當是五日為一會也）忽出堂向空頂禮。空中有聲云。報汝李知遙功成果自招。引君往淨土同汝上金橋。即就床端坐而化。天香郁然。

Li Zhiyao was a native of Chang'an who led an assembly in practicing the Five-Tone Buddha-Mindfulness. (During the Dali era of the Tang, Master Fazhao inaugurated the Five-Tone Buddha-Mindfulness in Hengzhou. Now Li Zhiyao practiced the Five-Tone mindfulness; this must have been modeled on Zhao. As for 'five assemblies' [or tones], it probably means holding one assembly every five days.) He suddenly stepped out of the hall, bowed toward the sky, and a voice from the sky said: 'I announce to you, Li Zhiyao: your meritorious work is fulfilled, and its fruit is brought forth by yourself. Leading you toward the Pure Land, we ascend with you the golden bridge.' He immediately went to his couch, sat upright, and was transformed. Heavenly incense was richly fragrant.
