Third Assembly: Preached in the Trāyastriṃśa Palace, six chapters: 1. Ascending Mount Sumeru (The Buddha sat beneath the bodhi tree, and without rising from this seat, ascended Mount Sumeru. Indra praised him, saying: 'Kāśyapa once came and dwelt in this palace; / therefore this place is most auspicious.' In this way, praising with respect to the ten past buddhas, he said in each case that this place was most auspicious. Jīngxī says: 'Ascending without moving; responding to capacities by finding the right place'). 2. Verses of Praise on the Mountain Peak (The Buddha sat in Indra's palace; Dharmamati and the other ten bodhisattvas each spoke verses praising the Buddha's supreme wisdom, saying: 'Fully knowing that all phenomena / have no intrinsic nature, / understanding the Dharma nature in this way, / one then beholds Rocana'). 3. The Ten Abodes (Dharmamati expounded the ten abodes, exhorting in each abode to practice ten dharmas). 4. Pure Conduct (Brahmacaryā) (Dharmamati expounded the ten dharmas for practicing pure conduct). 5. The Merits of Generating the Aspiration [for Awakening] (Dharmamati answered Indra's questions on the merits of generating the aspiration: for the sake of not severing the lineage of the Buddha; knowing in a single thought-moment the long and short kalpas of vast worlds; whether there is a buddha or no buddha, one buddha or many buddhas; knowing in a single thought-moment the kalpas of formation and destruction of worlds in the three times; and the diverse differences among sentient beings. Jīngxī says: 'The object of generating the aspiration is the object of contemplation; possessing the three truths, it is empty of intrinsic nature, equal across all conventionalities, and the Middle'). 6. Clarifying the Dharma (Dharmamati explained that bodhisattvas newly generating the aspiration abandon ten forms of heedlessness, practice ten kinds of dharmas, possess great merit, and accomplish the Buddha's wisdom. Jīngxī says: '"Clarifying" refers to what is realized; "dharma" refers to the method').
