3.83

佛自二月八日成道。自九日至二十九日。為寂場三七滿。至三月六日。為水邊定。四七日滿。三月七日。受提謂長者食。然後至鹿野園。正五七日內。三月八日也。涅槃云。初生出家成道轉法輪。皆以八日。

From the eighth day of the second month, the Buddha attained the path. From the ninth to the twenty-ninth day, the three periods of seven days in the tranquil bodhimaṇḍa were completed. Reaching the sixth day of the third month, the samādhi by the water completed the four periods of seven days. On the seventh day of the third month, he received the food from the elder Trapuṣa; thereafter he went to the Deer Park, which was precisely within the fifth period of seven days, on the eighth day of the third month. The Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: "The initial birth, leaving home, attaining the path, and turning the wheel of the Dharma all occurred on the eighth day."
