33.29

六齋　帝釋勅四王各治一方。白月八日遣使者案察眾生善惡。十四日遣太子。十五日王親臨。黑月三日亦如是。若王親下。星宿鬼神俱時隨從。如遇修行齋戒。諸天相慶即為注祿增算（四天王經）若國王大臣。於六齋日勅諸境內令行不殺（普賢觀經）。

The Six Fast Days: Śakra commands the Four Heavenly Kings to each govern one direction. On the eighth day of the white fortnight, messengers are dispatched to investigate the good and bad deeds of sentient beings; on the fourteenth day, the crown prince is dispatched; on the fifteenth day, the king descends in person. The same occurs on the three days of the black fortnight. When the king descends in person, the constellations, ghosts, and spirits all follow at the same time. If they encounter those cultivating the fasting precepts, the devas rejoice with one another and immediately register blessings and lengthen their lifespans.
