十齋　每月十齋日。持佛菩薩號乞福滅罪（一齋經。於六齋日加月旦十八二十四二十八四日也。今國律令。諸州十直日不得行刑。正據此義）。

The Ten Fast Days: On the ten fast days of each month, one upholds the names of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to seek blessings and eliminate sins. (Yizhai jing: adding four days—the first, eighteenth, twenty-fourth, and twenty-eighth of the month—to the six fast days. The current state legal statutes providing that executions may not be carried out on the ten direct days across all prefectures are precisely based on this principle).
