35.48

述曰。牟子不得其名。當佛道未大行之日。而能為論。援三家之事義比決優劣。以祛世惑。以禦外侮。是殆大士示迹。如來之使也。

A commentary says: Mouzi's given name is unknown. In a time when the Buddhist way had not yet flourished widely, he was nonetheless able to compose this treatise, adducing the deeds and teachings of the three schools to compare their merits, thereby dispelling worldly confusion and warding off external insults. This was truly a manifestation of a great bodhisattva, an envoy of the Tathāgata.
