二年。帝御式乾殿講維摩經。時西域沙門至者三千人。南方歌榮國世不與東土通。有僧菩提跋陀來。詔建永明寺。以居外國沙門。

In the second year, the emperor presided at the Shiqian Hall to lecture on the Vimalakīrtinirdeśa Sūtra. At that time, three thousand monks from the Western Regions arrived. The southern kingdom of Gerong had not communicated with the eastern land for generations; the monk Bodhibhadra came from there. An edict ordered the Yongming Monastery to be built to house foreign monks.
