九年。李士謙雅好佛學兼善玄談。有客問三教優劣。士謙曰。佛日也。道月也。儒五星也。時以為至論（無量壽佛經。惟願佛日教我觀於清淨業處）。

Ninth year. Li Shiqian had a refined fondness for Buddhist studies and was also skilled in metaphysical discussions. A guest asked about the merits and demerits of the three teachings. Shiqian said, 'The Buddha is the sun, Daoism is the moon, and Confucianism is the five planets.' At that time, it was considered the ultimate discourse. (The Amitāyus Sūtra states: 'I only wish that the sun of the Buddha would teach me to contemplate the pure realm of karma.')
