十四年。詔建禪定寺名曇遷法師集海內名德百二十人以居之○智者於玉泉說摩訶止觀。聽眾千人。章安預聽○冬十月。智者過岳州為刺史王宣武授戒法。沙門曇捷等請講金光明經。其俗聞法感化一郡五縣一千餘所。咸舍漁捕。

Fourteenth year. An edict ordered the construction of Chanding Monastery, appointing Dharma Master Tanqian to assemble one hundred and twenty men of eminent virtue from throughout the realm to reside there. Zhizhe expounded the Mohe zhiguan (Great Calming and Contemplation) at Yuquan to an audience of a thousand people; Zhāng'ān was in attendance listening. In winter, the tenth month, Zhizhe passed through Yuezhou and conferred the precepts upon Regional Inspector Wang Xuanwu. The monk Tanjie and others requested him to lecture on the Golden Light Sūtra; the populace heard the Dharma and was transformed, so that across one commandery and five counties, at more than one thousand sites, all abandoned fishing and hunting.
