39.50

二年三月。詔曰。朕自創義以來。手所誅剪將及千人。可皆建齋行道竭誠禮懺。冀三途之難因斯得脫。

In the third month of the second year, an edict stated: 'Since We first raised the righteous army, those personally executed and cut down by Our own hand amount to nearly a thousand persons. Let vegetarian feasts be established and the Way be practiced in all cases, exhausting all sincerity in bowing and repenting, in the hope that the distress of the three evil destinies may thereby be escaped.'
