述曰。此文立言建理。足以曉世之不知佛者。使退之見之當愧服不暇。子厚浩初序。徒云與易論語合而不能如此明言救世之功。然則此記殆過之矣。李節名微唐史無聞。

The Commentary states: This text establishes arguments and constructs principles that are sufficient to instruct those in the world who do not understand Buddhism. Had Tuizhi seen it, he would not even have had time to feel ashamed and submit. Zihou's preface for Haochu merely said that it accords with the *Changes* and the *Analects*, yet was unable to speak so clearly of the merit of saving the world. If so, then this record almost surpasses it! Li Jie's name was obscure, and he is unheard of in the history of the Tang.
