九年。洪州黃檗希運禪師示寂。諡斷際禪師。師得法於百丈。相國裴休守新安。請師入郡。咨問禪法執弟子禮。以所聞述傳心法要行於世（南岳下第四世）。

In the ninth year, Chan Master Xiyun of Mount Huangbo in Hongzhou manifested nirvana. He was posthumously named Chan Master Duanji. The Master obtained the Dharma from Baizhang. When Chancellor Pei Xiu governed Xin'an, he invited the Master to the commandery, inquired about the Chan Dharma, and observed the etiquette of a disciple. Based on what he heard, he composed the Essentials of the Transmission of Mind, which circulated throughout the world (fourth generation under Nanyue).
