42.58

三年。泰山沙門大行誦彌陀經。至三七日。忽於夜中見流離寶地寶臺之上佛及二大士無數化佛咸現其前。上聞殊異。詔入內。問所見賜號常精進菩薩。爵開國。

In the third year, the monk Daxing of Mount Tai chanted the Amitābha Sūtra. Reaching three weeks (twenty-one days), he suddenly saw in the night the Buddha, two Great Beings, and countless transformation buddhas all appear before him upon a precious terrace on ground of lapis lazuli jewel. The Emperor, hearing of this marvelous event, summoned him to the palace, questioned him on what he had seen, and bestowed the title Bodhisattva of Constant Diligence, granting him the nobility of Founder of the State.
