師乞歸山。詔許之。在山常紙衣。閉戶不見人。有置食庭前者。人退自取之。

The Master requested permission to return to the mountain; an imperial decree granted this. On the mountain he always wore paper clothing and shut his door, seeing no one. If someone placed food in front of the courtyard, he would take it himself once the person had withdrawn.
