三年。譯經三藏明因妙善普濟大師金總持。同譯語仁義。筆受宗正。南遊江浙至秀州車溪。密印寺沙門澄鑑。問三衣右會及旋遶左右。總持答曰。聖教但言以衣覆身。不曾挂於肩上。西天遶旋自北至東耳。

In the third year, the translation Tripiṭaka Master Jin Zongchi (Great Master Mingyin Miaoshan Puji), along with the interpreter Renyi and the scribe Zongzheng, traveled south through Jiangnan and Zhejiang to Chexi in Xiuzhou. The śramaṇa Chenggian of Miyin Monastery asked about gathering the three robes to the right and circumambulating to the left or right. Zongchi answered, 'The holy teachings only state that one covers the body with the robes, never that they are hung over the shoulders. In the Western Heavens, circumambulation goes from north to east.'
