53.16

晉武帝。劉薩訶入地獄。見觀音大士謂曰。可往洛陽（聖[塚-豖+(一/豖)]舍利）臨淄建鄴（建康長干塔）鄮陰（今育王山舍利）成都五處有阿育王塔。頂禮悔罪。既蘇出家名惠達。至鄮縣烏石山聞鐘聲。斵土求之。得舍利寶塔。飛至一山。乃即其地建剎奉塔（今阿育王山舍利殿。即其處也）○安帝勅鄮山造塔亭禪室。度二七僧住持守護。

Under Emperor Wu of the Jin, Liu Sahe entered hell and saw the Great Being Avalokiteśvara, who said to him: "You may go to Luoyang (the relic at the Sage's Mound), Linzi, Jianye (the Changgan Pagoda in Jiankang), the shadow of Mao (the present relic on Mount King Aśoka), and Chengdu; in these five places there are King Aśoka pagodas. Prostrate and repent your sins." After he revived, he left home, taking the name Huida. Arriving at Wushi Mountain in Mao County, he heard the sound of a bell. Digging into the earth in search of it, he obtained a precious pagoda with relics. It flew to a mountain, and he thereupon built a monastery on that ground to enshrine the pagoda (this is the present Relic Hall on Mount King Aśoka). Emperor An decreed the construction of a pagoda pavilion and meditation rooms on Mount Mao, ordaining fourteen monks to reside there and guard it.
